About Us

Roots of Hope is an orphan ministry  in a rural village of Malawi, Africa. We empower orphans and vulnerable children through education and the redeeming truth of the Gospel.

The vision for Roots of Hope began in 2013 with Innocent Macheso's dream to disciple and care for orphans in his home village. He was concerned because he saw them living hopelessly, often with no mentorship or guidance. His own father had passed away when Innocent was young, so he was able to see much of his story in the lives of these children. He worked with local pastors and village leaders to identify the most vulnerable orphans in the area, and began meeting with them to build relationships and teach the Bible.

"My vision was to teach these kids the word of God so that they could grow spiritually, and help them with physical needs so that they could have an abundant life full of faith and a bright future."

Mission and Vision

Empowering orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi through education and the redeeming truth of the Gospel

Our vision is for every child to know Jesus as their Savior, walk in lifelong Christian discipleship, and have the opportunity to flourish through education, skills training, character development, and empowerment initiatives.

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.  He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”  Jeremiah 17:7-8
